As one of the oldest independent family owned butchers in the country with over 160 years of experience, Althams are recognised for their award-winning bespoke meals. Operating from a state of the art facility in Morecambe, Lancashire, their location gives them access to some of the best ingredients in the country. They strive to use the highest quality ingredients, many of which are sourced from the local area of the Ribble Valley.
Currently in its fifth-generation and run by James and Rick Altham, the family business began with their great-great-grandfather Thomas Altham who opened a local family butcher shop in Poulton-le-Sands, Morecambe in 1856. Having started the business within 10 years of Booths and with the same family values and emphasis on creating delicious food, it’s no surprise that we’ve established such a strong relationship.
Althams pride themselves on ensuring the highest level of customer happiness, using their experience and know-how to source, cook and present food the way it should be. It’s their background in good honest food and a love of creating delicious meals that makes Althams what it is today.

At Christmas we pull out all the stops, collaborating to create delicious meals made for sharing, including Steak, Red Wine & Pancetta Lasagne and Fish Pie with Lobster Bisque Sauce. You’ll also find a range of beautifully crafted pies and prepared vegetables to help you create a winning spread for your friends and family to celebrate the festive season.
