METHOD

  1. Using our net as a guide, draw out your house net onto a sheet of card, including the windows and door. Measure carefully. You can make the house the size of your choice; make sure the wall panels are all the same size, the roof panels are all the same size, and it's large enough to fit over your electric tealight.
  2. Using the craft knife, cutting mat and metal ruler, carefully cut out your net, including the windows and door. Don’t cut out the whole door, just cut the right and top edge. We’d recommend cutting out on the ‘waste’ side of your lines where you can, in case you go off course.
  3. Score your fold lines. You can do this by gently running the edge of the metal ruler down the marked pencil lines, steadying against the plastic ruler.
  4. Fold your house, so that the pencil lines will end up on the inside of the house when it’s finished. Start each fold gently, and once it’s folded, to get a crisp fold, smooth over the fold using the edge of the plastic ruler. Using the plastic ruler is softer on the card than the metal ruler like a bone folder, so you are less likely to damage the surface of the card.
  5. Unfold, and glue baking paper over the windows you cut out.
  6. It’s time to bring it together. Add double sided tape to each flap, peel off the backing and fold your house closed.
  7. Pop over the top of an electric tealight to enjoy a cosy glow. Do not use a candle.
