Preparation & Use
Cooking Instructions: Suitable for home freezing. If freezing, freeze on day of purchase and use within 1 month. To thaw, remove from freezer and place in refrigerator for approximately 24 hours. Do not re-freeze once thawed. Cooking Instruction. All appliances vary these are guidelines only. A pop up timer is also provided as an indicator of correct cooking temperature. Once the timer pops up, check that the juices run clear. OVEN Remove from packaging and allow the bird to reach room temperature before cooking, this should take approximately 2 hours. Pre-heat oven to 180°C / Fan 160°C / Gas Mark 4. Place the bird in a roasting tray. Melt approximately 100g butter and rub over the outside of the bird, then season with salt and pepper. For best results pour 200ml cold water in the roasting tin around the bird. Loosely cover the bird with foil and place in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes per kg plus an extra 70 minutes. Periodically spoon the juices from the bottom of the tin to baste and return to the oven. For the last 45 minutes of cooking remove the foil to allow the bird to brown. Pierce the thickest part with a skewer to check the juices run clear. If further cooking is required return to the oven and check after 15 minutes. Once cooked remove from the oven and leave to stand for 20 - 30 minutes before carving.
